Fine Artist in Virginia
Sculpture • Paintings
My work is mainly figurative, but also abstract. Ceramic with mixed-media.
Acrylic on canvas or paper; of the figure or pure non-objective. Size ranges from 8 x 8 to 30 x 40 inches.
Ancient Japanese method of firing, these pieces have unexpected color. They are wall sculptures, vessels, animals. The drama of the black background is from the smoking of the combustibles in the firing process.
Peter Haikalis, 1919-2014
The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree – these are original paintings by my father, Peter Haikalis, who was a WWII veteran, an advertising executive, and who passed away in January 2014. I have literally hundreds of his works on paper of female and male nudes; and many abstract expressionist works on stretched canvas. Check back again for uploaded images.
“Real Art on a Shoestring” Continues at SR/A and added is a Pop-Up Event at Ascend Martial Arts!
I will be at Ascend Martial Arts, 6936 Wisconsin Ave., on Saturday, September 29 from 2-5pm for a one-day Pop-Up Gallery/Mixer. And my sculptures are on display and for sale at SR/A Interior Design, La Collection, 7020 Wisconsin Ave. which is open weekdays. Street parking and two outdoor public parking lots across Wisconsin Ave. on Leland St. Unlike typical art galleries, SR/A believes art displays best as it would in a person’s home – surrounded by furniture, accessories and antique treasures, so at the gallery you will see each artist’s collection paired with complimentary furnishings.
